What We Do

Turn AI direction into practical operating change.

Athenia helps leadership teams improve how work, information and decisions move across the business. Our focus is supply chain and operations, where processes often span multiple functions, systems and vendors.

We bring an independent, business-wide perspective to process redesign and management control. We help management determine which existing platform capabilities to use, how they should work across functions and vendors, and whether further operating or technology change is justified.

Each engagement addresses a specific operating need, rather than following a predetermined transformation program.

Redesign end-to-end processes

When capable people spend time chasing information, coordinating handoffs and resolving routine exceptions, adding AI within one application may leave the underlying work unchanged.

We help redesign the end-to-end process, identifying where information should flow, what can be automated and where human judgment remains essential. The aim is to reduce avoidable work and improve operating performance.

Typical output: A future-state process design with clear responsibilities and human checkpoints.

Establish decision authority and governance

As AI takes a greater role in operating decisions, responsibilities and limits need to be explicit.

We help management determine what AI may recommend or act upon and where approval is required. We also help establish how actions are monitored, when people can intervene or override decisions, how exceptions are escalated and when AI authority must be suspended. These arrangements fit within existing governance and keep accountability with the business.

Typical output: Documented decision authority, operating guardrails and approval and escalation responsibilities.

Define business requirements across systems and data

An improved process should make effective use of capabilities already available within existing platforms while identifying what remains unresolved across systems and data. We help management assess those capabilities, define the business requirements for any additional change and clarify what information needs to be accessible across the operating process. This connects platform and technology decisions to the operating need without prescribing the underlying technical design.

Typical output: Agreed business requirements covering intended behaviour, information needs, system and vendor responsibilities, and acceptance criteria.

Evaluate and realize operating value

A functioning solution does not, by itself, demonstrate business improvement.

We help establish a credible baseline and measures of service, cost, working capital, productivity or risk. We then assess whether new ways of working are being adopted and delivering the intended results. This gives management evidence for deciding where further investment is justified.

Typical output: Agreed performance measures and an evidence-based recommendation to continue, modify, scale or stop.

Working alongside your team

Management: Sets priorities, approves operating changes and retains accountability for performance.

Athenia: Works with management to determine which operating decisions should change, where AI can add value, what authority it should receive, how roles and processes should adapt, and what evidence will justify further investment. It complements technical expertise with an independent business perspective focused on the operating decision and resulting performance.

Technology teams, platform vendors and delivery partners: Contribute their platform capabilities, technical design and controls, integration and deployment.

We work within existing corporate policies, technology standards and decision rights, including responsibilities shared between corporate functions and business units.

A structured approach

The Athenia Operating Model provides the design reference for how AI-enabled operations should work. The Athenia Method structures the client work required to move from operating need to measurable improvement. Both connect operating performance with governance and human accountability.

The Executive AI Readiness Working Session establishes an initial direction and helps identify where further work is justified. If you already have a defined operating need, we can discuss that directly. Any additional work would be agreed with you separately.
